I was purchasing some non halal items at Ampang Tesco on 15th August 2017 at around 10:30 pm and the bill amount was Rm 15.74.Hence,since I had some loose change I told the cashier I'd give her Rm 0.80 so that I did not have to have so much change in my pocket. When I asked her why she wouldn’t accept it she pointed out that the supervisor wouldn't take coins. So,I asked her this question : Ini bukan duit Malaysia?.She kept quiet then muttering some Indian words to her colleague who was obviously bragging or gossiping with her as it was close to closing time.
Now,what I want to know from the management if there such a policy as to not accepting coins for purchasing items at your store? It would be ridiculous if I had opted to pay the full amount in coins but it was just Rm 0.80.
Or probably I was a bit shabbily dressed with short pants and a T shirt giving the cashier the impression that I’m a typical China-man.For your information , I’m a director and shareholder of a palm oil estate earning in excess of Rm 250k annually , preferring to keep a low profile of myself.
I am not demanding for an apology but I hope that you would properly train and educate your staff as not to behave in this manner towards customers as it would tarnish your reputation and be driving customers away from your store.
This incident would make me think twice before revisiting your store in the near future regardless of how cheap your pricing is. With these information provided,I hope you’d look into this matter for the sake of improvising your store service towards customers.
